My sterling silver necklace turned gold?
salt90 asked:
I put my sterling silver heart necklace in jewelry cleaner today (not for the first time either) and i took it out after literally 30-45 seconds and it was completely gold. not the chain, just the heart pennant. it was an expensive gift to me, is there anything i can do to restore it?

i dont know.
probably it wont go back to the silver one.
it might be fake or somethinG!
well its not as expensive as you think… FAKE
either it is fake..sterlign should have a mark of 925 on it…. if not you may have used the wrong kind of jewelry cleaner on it….use silver polish ..make sure it is specifically silver polish…….that should take the gold away if not then your necklace is not silver
It probz wasnt expensive..who ever gave it…..erm and yeh it won’t go back t normal
Some jewelry cleaners react to metals that way. it’s possible the pendant might not be silver but instead a base metal (ie.brass,copper). try using cleaners for silver only, like a silver polish. also, it’s not necessary to soak your jewelry in the liquid cleaner, just dip it a few times then rinse with lukewarm water. prolonged soaking might have changed the color. or just bring it to a jeweler to have it buffed and polish to restore the original color and luster of the metal. one jeweler i recommend is Diamonds of Palo Alto.
